An open letter from the founder-
Dear All,
Bands for Lands is excited to move forward into a new direction! We have realized for quite some time now, the importance of re-introducing industrial hemp back into our society. We strongly believe, based on the facts, that this plant can AND will heal our planet while providing economic stability to our community as a whole. This plant is a gift to us all and our planet, we all call home.
On November 6th, 2012 the people of Colorado have spoken and made it clear, that they see the need and realize the significance of this plant and what it can do environmentally and economically in the most positive of ways. Now, on May 28, 2013, Governor Hickenlooper signed SB13-241-”The Casey Bill” making it possible for Colorado farmers to plant hemp for commercial purposes in the 2014 planting season. What was once considered radical has become mainstream in Colorado.
Colorado is now poised to be the pioneer in this bold new direction. We will show without a doubt that this plant will make a seismic impact in saving our planet while providing jobs and revenue to the state. It is our sincere hope that the rest of the country and the world will see what we will have helped create. Good friend and an integral figure in getting this bill passed, Lynda sums it up so succinctly- “I never dared dream we’d arrive here in my lifetime, but here we are celebrating a hopeful future for our state with the opportunity to positively impact agriculture, industry, the economy and the environment.
Locally, BFL has teamed up with the Agricultural Hemp Initiative, Hemp Cleans and HIA along with courageous farmers who see the vision, to move forward in seeing this amazing opportunity we have been provided, a reality for all! Internationally we have aligned with Tony Budden and the Western Cape Hemp Imitative http://www.hemporium.com/cultivate_wchi.php to help ensure that hemp is introduced to Africa, as the people there can desperately use this plant in so many ways. We will also be providing updates and news on this exciting endeavor! If you wish to get involved, contact us and/or any of the aforementioned named entities as well as our page of partners, friends and trailblazers.
Regards,
Jeremy Gregory
